It’s a good idea to start with smaller aquariums if you’re new to the hobby.
Nano fish like guppies and bettas can live comfortably in five or ten gallons.
But after a while, you might want to move up to the next weight class.
A fish tank around 30-gallon aquarium weight class is one of the first sizes that allow you to start getting medium-sized species.
It also gives you the extra space to design more elaborate aquascapes or biotopes.
With a bit of planning, you can put together an impressive display tank that will be quite a conversation piece in your home!
This article will go over eight of my favorite aquarium setups for a 29-gallon tank.
7 Ideal 30-Gallon Home Aquariums
Clear Mini 30
Aqueon 30 Gallon Frameless Aquarium is a minimalist glass fish tank that uses straight-edge tempered glass and clear silicone.
These fish tanks measure 23.63 L × 13.5 W × 17.63 H inches (60 L x 34.3 W x 44.8 H cm) and hold up to 30 gallons of water.
The Aqueon 30 comes in three different options, which includes the following:
- Standard (only the tank)
- Standard + Glass Top
- Standard + Hood & LED
The hood has an LED lighting system with 10,000 K white and 460 nm blue LEDs.
Fusion Pro 30 AIO Aquarium
The Fusion Pro 30 AIO Aquarium is an excellent choice for anyone looking for low maintenance, all-in-one aquarium.
The 8 mm glass is sturdy and durable, and the polished edges give it smoothness for a clean look.
It’s also easy to set up, with all filtration ready to go, a preinstalled leveling rubber mat, and even a micro mag magnetic glass cleaner.
The overflow wall has two slots that are both 2.25 inches wide.
These slots connect to two 2 x 1-inch nozzles for vast water flow.
These aquariums also have a prepared filtration area with mechanical, chemical, and biological media.
These fish tanks are equipped with a mesh screen pro lid made from plastic coated steel to prevent jumping out and equipment falling in.
In addition, a magnetic micro mag glass cleaner is included to clean the inside of the glass without scrubbing it inside manually.
The leveling rubber mat is preinstalled so that the aquarium can be adequately leveled on the stand before it’s filled with water, sand or gravel, plants or decor, and fish or invertebrates.
Midwest Tropical Fountain Aqua Coffee Table Aquarium Tank
For all the aquarists, the Midwest Tropical Fountain Aqua Coffee Table Aquarium Tank is another fantastic option for you.
If you’re looking for an aquarium table that comes at a lesser price than other tanks on this list, then this one is it.
The tank is handcrafted and includes a quality gallery.
In addition, it comes with everything you need to get started.
All you have to do is add water fish, plug it in, and watch your aquatic life thrive!
It’s easy to put together and features illuminated aquascapes that are sure to light up any room at night.
Just be sure to change the filter once in a while, and you’ll be good to go!
Landen 60P 32.1 Gallon Rimless Low Iron Aquarium Tank
This tank is huge and makes a great centerpiece for any room.
It has a massive water capacity of 32 gallons and measures 36 by 12 by 16 inches.
Depending on your taste, you can fill it up with anything from freshwater fish to small sharks or coldwater fish.
It’s made of 8mm thick low-iron glass that offers over 91% transparency.
The rimless design means no frame around the edges so that you can get all the views.
This also means you have more space to add your lighting system, filters, and other accessories.
The silicone joins the panels together seamlessly, and there were no scratches or marks on our unit when it arrived.
It’s hand-made by experienced artisans, and I think they did a pretty good job with it.
This is not a complete aquarium set, though, so you need to buy the rest of the equipment separately if you want to use it.
I also think it might be too big for some people as far as maintenance goes, but if you’re up for the challenge, go for it!

This aquarium is one of the best options for people who want a larger, more durable fish tank.

This aquarium also comes with a heater, filter, and LED lighting strip that will keep your water at the right temperature and give your fish plenty of light to play in!

The kit is specifically designed for beginners and advanced aquarium owners who want a nice-looking and functional aquarium at home.

Additionally, the aquarium kit comes with most of the equipment and accessories needed to run a fish tank, including a QuietFlow filter, food, water conditioner, heater, thermometer, and so on.

In addition, it comes at an affordable price, considering it includes the most basic equipment and accessories necessary to get started.
Marineland Bio-Wheel 29 Gallon Aquarium Kit
The Marineland Bio-Wheel 29 gallon aquarium kit is an excellent choice for starting your first tropical aquarium.
The Marineland 29 gallon kit is very affordable compared to other kits available in the market.
It comes with almost everything you need to start your first aquarium, and it’s even big enough for small fish species such as guppies or tetras.
However, I do not recommend this product to keep smaller fish species like betta or goldfish because the filter output might be too strong for them.
The ideal stocking size of this 29-gallon kit is around 1 inch per gallon of water which means that this kit can fit up to 30 inches of fish at max.
Its Penguin 200 filter will surely provide excellent filtration capacity to keep your fish tank healthy and clean, but it would be better if the filter included carbon cartridges.
Of course, a 28-30 gallon tank isn’t the only way you can set up an aquarium—the amount of fish and other tank mates you wish to have determined your stocking list.
But with a 28-30 gallon tank weight class, you have plenty of options for mixing and matching species.
